Special schools (9)
Schools wholly for pupils with special educational needs. Places are arranged through the local authority, normally as part of an EHC plan, not by applying to the school directly.
Mainstream schools that record a SEN unit, resourced provision, or particular needs they cater for, alongside their ordinary classes. Not every school publishes unit places, so a row without them is not a school without provision.
Unit places come from the school census and describe the position when it was taken, not today. Confirm with the local authority before relying on them.
